On the Thames in West London, Hammersmith is a beautiful area, with a countryside feel. It is perfect for many of London’s wealthy families. There is a choice of riverside eateries to explore, including The Dove pub, which was frequented by Ernest Hemingway and Graham Greene or The Crabtree which has a terrace overlooking the Thames and is popular in the summer months with people enjoying a Pimm’s and the splendid views.
There are many other restaurants in the area, as well as boutique shops and cafes, or head to the Farmer’s Market at Lyric Square on a Thursday for fresh products. The area is rich in cultural attractions, with four theatres: the Riverside Studios, the Bush Theatre, Curtains Up at the Baron’s Theatre and finally the Lyric Hammersmith, which is considered one of the most notable theatres outside the West End. It is also home to the Hammersmith Apollo, which plays host to major concerts and stand up comedy acts.
The William Morris Society at Kelmscott House is one to visit, as is the Westfield Shopping Centre in nearby Shepherd’s Bush, with hundreds of shops and restaurants. For the children, the London Wetland Centre will bring splashes and laughter, or nearby neighbourhood Barnes, just over the river, is very picturesque. There are a number of exceptional 18th and 19th century buildings in and around its historic village, and the area boasts a rock and roll history with the former Olympic Studios on Church Road playing host to many of rock and pop's greatest stars throughout the decades: from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, right through to modern day Coldplay and Madonna.

This architecturally beautiful Georgian home comprises of two drawing rooms, a dining room, kitchen, a playroom, gym, four bathrooms and six bedrooms. Outside in the never-ending garden, there is a hot tub, a BBQ and patio dining area (with top of the range outdoor speakers), a zip wire, playground and even a tree house for kids!
On stepping through the wooden front doors you arrive in a grand hallway, with its original oak floorboards and high ceilings. The first drawing room is located on the left with its views out over the front of the house overlooking the river and its flat screen TV, plush cream carpet and luxurious sofas. A spare bedroom is located next door and opposite this room is the great dining room with its regal dining table seating up to 12 guests; the perfect place for a dinner party or a special occasion! Adjoining is the fully equipped and immaculately designed kitchen, built out into a conservatory over looking the garden, with its huge range cooker, and American style fridge/freezer. The doors at the end lead out onto the flag stone patio with its outdoor wicker furniture boasting top of the range outdoor directional speakers (operational through the wireless sonos sound system) and a heater! A designated BBQ area has also be created nearby to complete the alfresco experience along with a deluxe hot tub. For those who fancy a night time dip - made sure you turn on the outdoor mood lighting to get the full effect!
Back in the house and down to the basement you will find the gym, complete with all the latest fitness machines, air conditioning, and a flat screen TV with music channels for motivation. A bedroom and utility room are located on this floor as well as the all important playroom. With up lit pink walls, sofas and all the modern technology you could need to keep the kids quiet (including an Xbox, playstation, SKY satellite TV, DVD player, and a pin ball machine) this room truly is a child’s dream come true!
Indisputably the best seat in the house is the great saloon on the first floor. A room of majestic proportions hosting two seating areas, a grand piano, a built-in bar and the house’s largest TV yet! Most astonishing however is the conservatory which leads off this room and wraps around the front of the house offering an extended platform from which you can watch the ebb and flow of the river and take in the breath taking views! In the summer months you can also fold back the glass patio doors for an uninterrupted view down river!
In total there are five double bedrooms and one single bedroom (3/4 double bed) all of which have been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The large master bedroom has a super king size bed, views over the River Thames and a very large en suite bathroom with a stunning free standing bath in the centre of the room.
There are four full bathrooms and a downstairs WC in the property. The full bathrooms all have either showers (some with bathtubs and shower attachments) and akin to the rest of the house are elegantly decorated to an extremely high standard.
For entertainment purposes, the property benefits from Wifi internet connection, satellite TV (Sky) and a DVD player complete with DVD collection.
The house occupies an enchanting position overlooking the River Thames with views towards Hammersmith Bridge, London's oldest suspension bridge; both can be viewed from the balcony-style conservatory off the saloon on the first floor.
Hammersmith, a unique suburb located in West London, is the perfect place to stay. The area is brimming with the activity and opportunity typical of London, yet retaining a certain village charm. Timelessly elegant Georgian architecture complements Hammersmith's and Chiswick's beautiful stretch of Thames riverbank. Bars, restaurants and pavement cafes have sprung up all along the tow path including the famous River Cafe on the other side of the bridge. Several supermarkets and an ever-expanding range of delis, boutiques and niche suppliers mean that residents rarely need to go elsewhere.
Boasting two underground stations means that this borough’s transport links to the rest of London are superb and you can be in Knightsbridge or Kensington in just 15 minutes and the centre of London such as Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus can be reached in about 20 minutes. The house itself is just 5 minutes away from the Underground and the Bus Station. For those that wish to experience London by bus there is a huge amount of bus routes passing through this part of London and leading directly into the city’s centre. Alternatively, take a river boat from the nearby pier to Kew Bridge or Hampton Court Palace (to the West) or to the London Eye or Tate Modern (to the East).
Please note that there are two resident cats in situ at this property who cannot be relocated. The housekeeper Glena lives in an apartment at the end of the garden and will access the property daily to look after them.
