West London

Not Available

On the Thames in West London, Hammersmith is a beautiful area, with a countryside feel. It is perfect for many of London’s wealthy families. There is a choice of riverside eateries to explore, including The Dove pub, which was frequented by Ernest Hemingway and Graham Greene or The Crabtree which has a terrace overlooking the Thames and is popular in the summer months with people enjoying a Pimm’s and the splendid views.

There are many other restaurants in the area, as well as boutique shops and cafes, or head to the Farmer’s Market at Lyric Square on a Thursday for fresh products. The area is rich in cultural attractions, with four theatres: the Riverside Studios, the Bush Theatre, Curtains Up at the Baron’s Theatre and finally the Lyric Hammersmith, which is considered one of the most notable theatres outside the West End. It is also home to the Hammersmith Apollo, which plays host to major concerts and stand up comedy acts.

The William Morris Society at Kelmscott House is one to visit, as is the Westfield Shopping Centre in nearby Shepherd’s Bush, with hundreds of shops and restaurants. For the children, the London Wetland Centre will bring splashes and laughter, or nearby neighbourhood Barnes, just over the river, is very picturesque. There are a number of exceptional 18th and 19th century buildings in and around its historic village, and the area boasts a rock and roll history with the former Olympic Studios on Church Road playing host to many of rock and pop's greatest stars throughout the decades: from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, right through to modern day Coldplay and Madonna.

I booked this property for a corporate event. 10 colleagues and myself stayed in London for the Olympics and the house was perfect! We also were aiming for Kensington, but we went on the advice of Vive Unique and I was most happy this was the place we decided on. We also made use of the taxi service provided. You couldn't wish for a better service. Many thanks from myself and the rest of the company!! Boudewijn, Amsterdam NL

My family and I decided to come over to London for the Olympics and we wanted to rent a home so we could all be together. There were 8 of us altogether so we needed a lot of space. We were hoping to find somewhere in Kensington but we went with Jenny's recommendation with this property in Hammersmith and we were so glad we did! It is simply a dream home. You're right on the river and the garden is huge so we spent a lot of time out there. Each room is superbly decorated, sadly we didn't get time to use the fabulous dining room because we ate out so much. there are a lot of great pubs, restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area. The kids loved the garden because it had an assault course, a trampoline, basketball hoop and even a climbing wall!! We loved it because there was a hot tub and a beautiful table and chairs - we were so lucky with the weather. I think it only rained one day, and even then we had the games and cinema room to entertain ourselves. The live in housekeeper Glena was lovely and always happy to help. We really didn't want to leave. I will definitely book this home again the next time we come to London. I wish it were my own home! Sarah, Oregon, USA

This Hammersmith home has beautiful decor and oozes elegance throughout. There is plenty of space for a large group of guests, and the garden is a lovely private space for the summer months. You'll be sure to impress guests in the fabulous dining room of this huge family home, and you can head to the hot tub after dinner! You're also near a nice stretch of the Thames where there are many upmarket restaurants and bars to enjoy.
