Bordering Regent’s Park, Camden Town in northwest London is best known for its market and perhaps more recently the late great Amy Winehouse.

It became an important location during the early development of the railways and is located on the London canal network. In 1816, the Regent's Canal was built through the area creating a lock around which Camden Lock Village was developed. Today it is home to the internationally renowned Camden Market where you are sure to find something for the whole family. Amongst the bustling clothes, crafts and jewellery stands, there are some really unique pubs and bars offering nightly live music and DJs. The Lockside Lounge on the water’s edge is a popular spot, as are the Barfly and Proud Camden music venues on Chalk Farm road on the west side of the district. You can enjoy fresh food from every continent whilst sitting astride a motorbike on the canal’s edge, eating and watching the ducks swim by.

This area is renowned for its alternative culture although there are many period properties to enjoy a traditional style of home, from Georgian and early Victorian townhouses to modern apartments and mews homes on cobbled streets, making this an area full of character which will appeal to everyone. Many townhouses in Camden are over three or even four floors so there’s plenty of space for the whole family to relax.

This delightful 1 bedroom apartment, with large terrace, is a chic retreat in the heart of Camden.

You’ll be impressed the moment you step through the door at this three-floor apartment. Your own private front door leads you to a dramatically black-tiled entrance area. On the ground floor, there’s a modern WC with spotlighted mirrors which doubles as an utility room with washing machine and dryer.

Up one floor and you’re in the spacious living room and kitchen area. Here, the open plan style allows you to relax on the sofa and chairs or sit enjoy dinner around the table while looking out to the leafy views. There’s a TV (with additional Virgin channels), DVD and surround sound.

A sofa bed in the living room opens out to make up a second bedroom for extra guests at night time. The apartment can sleep 4 guests in total.

The modern chrome and grey kitchen is abundantly lit by the windows and row lighting, creating a laid-back environment. It is fitted with an abundance of cupboards and appliances including (another!) small TV, microwave, toaster, oven and fridge/freezer, all surrounding the black topped breakfast bar.

On to the top floor and you’ll enter the peaceful, white-tiled bedroom suite. A TV and en-suite bathroom flanks the clever storage and large double bed. Light floods in from the windows and above in the partial glass ceiling. The full-length mirror, glass walls, cabinets and heated towel rail are the finishing touches to the fantastic en-suite/wetroom!

Leading directly off the bedroom is a substantial private terrace. With a table and 4 chairs for al fresco dining and a sunlounger, this space may well be the highlight of your Camden escape!

This home has wi fi and underfloor heating throughout.

The beauty of Camden lies in its extremes; you’ll be hard pushed to find anywhere in London which, in turn, is quite as grand or as grungy. By Camden Town underground station you’ll find Mohawks, mezze and macchiatos in equal measure. The Stables Market has everything on offer from indie casual-wear and gothic designs to pretty floral dresses. Less than a 5 minute walk from the mayhem of the Stables and you’ll find serenity on Primrose Hill road, with up-market cafés, interior design and cake shops.

At the top of the road is Primrose Hill itself with, arguably, the best views of London from its summit. Parkway, which is about a 10 minute walk from the flat, is another great street to explore with a couple of Michelin-starred restaurants, an organic health-food store and a jazz café.

The flat is located well to explore the neighbourhood and further afield. The closest transport links are Camden Road Overground, a 10 minute walk or Camden Town tube, a 15 minute walk. A great transport option is the nearby (2 minute walk) bus stop with direct links to Tottenham Court Road/Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square (in 10-15 minutes), Euston/Kings Cross St Pancras (in 10-15 minutes) and Camden Town proper (in 5 minutes if you don’t want to walk). Just 1 stop away on the Northern Line is Kings Cross St Pancras for further London connections as well as the Eurostar.

We stayed here for 10 days, and chose the location because it is close to where our daughter lives. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. It's also very well-lit, with lots of windows and skylights, the outdoor patio area is great. We really enjoyed the stereo system.

My wife and I came to London for two weeks over the Olympic period. Our intent was to visit our son in the city through this time frame also. We wanted to be at the centre of town. This apartment suited our needs well and was very attractive. My son corresponded with Vive Unique on our behalf and they were very helpful in finding us something central. We also booked an airport pick up with them which was great for us coming from Germany. I would highly recommend the company. They were efficient and easy to deal with. We had a great stay. The flat is nice and fairly good value considering the size and location - the location is great, its close to everything and the area is very pretty. Communications were easy, was rung back very soon and arrangements were made quickly for me. THe host wasn't there to meet us as he was away but we were met by his friend who was very friendly, the host even left his oyster card for us to use, so nice of him!

I absolutely loved the minimalist style of this apartment. It doesn't even compare to a hotel with all the outdoor space. It was great to be high up and see across the cityscape. Initially I was a bit concerned about the area and how close I would be to transport but it turned out to be really close to both tube and overground lines. The markets in Camden are great for gifts and the food was fantastic. Some great pubs with character around this area. I wanted to extend my stay for another week once I'd settled in but could only do 3 days more. It was a great experience and I'll definitely look you up next time I'm over from HK! This is a super sleek home, with all designer features and a lovely roof terrace to enjoy a drink whilst watching the sun go down. This apartment would be a top pick for a couple looking for a trendy city getaway, being near the cosmopolitan area of Camden and many other popular areas.
